Spalls

Mawsons have the capacity to provide stone “chunks” in a range of sizes and gradings from 1 metre to 150mm diameter. Blasted shot rock loaded direct from the quarry face or sized with a hydraulic breaking hammer provides spalls of 300mm and above. Primary crushing and scalping produce the 250-150mm range. Secondary crushing further reduces nominal size to around 100mm. All stone is durable, igneous material suitable for any beaching and erosion control applications.

Ballast

Stone for Railway ballast; typically a sound quality, dense, clean graded 75mm product is crushed at Mawsons quarries. Suitable for concrete and wooden sleepers and used throughout northern Victoria and southern NSW Mawsons ballast is recognized for its excellent performance.

Ballast can also be used in construction work, where it�s free draining nature is important, and for erosion control.
