October 13th, 2013 – Mawsons Family Day – Lake Cooper
Mawsons Family Day, held on Sunday October 13th 2013 on the shores of Lake Cooper managed to stay intermittently sunny but a little breezy. Having said that, those who attended were treated to a lovely view from the enormous marquee, well sheltered from the breezy conditions. The younger attendees merrily ignored the wind as they took part in a variety of activities including segways, jumping castle/slide, mini golf as well as face painting and balloon sculptures.
Travelling from as far afield as Sydney, Broken Hill and South Australia, approximately 250 employees and their families joined in Mawsons 2013 Family Day activities.
Before lunch, regular mini bus tours of Mawsons Lake Cooper Quarry wound their way through a well-organised site where impressive displays of various quarrying activities were showcased for onlookers. A delicious lunchtime meal was then enjoyed, interspersed with a few formalities including the induction of three new 25 Year Club Members – Lawrence Mathers, Lyle Baker and Ian Walsh. Congratulations! Afternoon mini bus tours of the picturesque local Mt Burramboot Estate Winery finished the day off to perfection.
A huge Thank You to Shirley Dobie and Jim McInerney for making Mawsons Family Day 2013 such a resounding success. It is a mammoth undertaking and full credit must go to them for a day which ran so smoothly.
In addition, Adrian Bull and his team deserve a special mention for putting on such an impressive display for those who toured the quarry. Everyone would have to agree that the quarry was organised and showcased in a way which managed to impress and at the same time, keep everyone wholeheartedly interested. Well done!
Our thanks are also extended to the large team of mini bus drivers and tour guides who generously shared their time, knowledge and experience to make the tours so enjoyable. Your efforts were very much appreciated by all!
Mawsons Family Day 2014 will no doubt be highly anticipated.
