A fresh approach in Katunga

by Kesenya Baker | Jun 16, 2015

Mawsons is excited to be involved in the recent expansion of flourishing business 'Katunga Fresh' in Numurkah.

Owners Peter and Marajan Vandergoor established their hydroponic tomato enterprise six years ago, adding and extending to the original farm building over that time, bringing their total undercover area up to 6 hectares today. This year (2015) they plan to add another 6 hectares of undercover tomatoes, with each building housing approximately 160,000 tomato plants. The culmination of this rapid growth will result in 30 news jobs for the area, bringing their staff total to 80.

Part owners of hydroponic business 'Flavour Wave' on a nearby property, the Vandergoors also intend to build a second 5 hectare Flavour Wave glass house to compliment the existing one, only this time the house will contain peppers instead of tomatoes.

The involvement of Mawsons concrete in this blossoming endeavour is in the supply of 550 cubic metres of concrete in post holes & edge beams and 450 cubic metres required to create the packing shed floor.

We at Mawsons look forward to enjoying the delicious results of the expansion of Katunga Fresh !
