Mawsons and the Learning and Development Team are honoured to have received the Wodonga TAFE Industry Collaboration Award 2024.
The Industry Collaboration Award recognises the importance of industry collaborations which foster both student and organisational growth and success.
With over 200 trucks on the road daily, Mawsons recognised the importance of equipping our drivers with up-to-date knowledge and skills.
Since 2018, Mawsons has maintained a strong partnership with DECA, where our Concrete Agitator Drivers participate in a one-day Rollover Prevention and Driver Assessment Program as part of their onboarding. David Arthur and Rob Johns collaborated with the expert team at DECA in Shepparton to tailor their ProDriver program to the specific needs of our Quarry Tipper and Bulk Cement Tanker Drivers. These drivers now take part in a 3.5-day program aimed at enhancing their driving abilities, improving their understanding of current road laws, increasing fuel efficiency, and prioritising safety.
The program has been a tremendous success, with 18 drivers completing it since July 2024, and it will continue through 2025. Feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.
David Arthur, our Concrete Driver Trainer, works closely with all truck drivers in the company. He conducts biennial driving assessments, collaborates with sites on prestart procedures, and provides additional assessments as needed. He also collaborates closely with staff members identified for truck license training.
The programs at DECA are supported by the L&D Team who work closely with Managers and DECA to ensure that drivers receive prioritised training.
